Wedding – I DO & Wedding Date – Forks

So my man and I were in the grocery store waiting on Crab Legs to be steamed and I came across some BRIDE magazines.  Since we are planning our wedding I thought maybe I could get some cute ideas. Sure enough, we did!!

We saw these forks that said “I DO” on one and something else on the other fork (I can’t remember as I didn’t care for the saying) and I thought, I could so make these!! I have been kind of wanting to get those metal punch set letters and numbers for a while but didn’t want to spend a lot on them as they would just be something I would rarely use; but now I found a great use for them!!

We had to go to Michaels for something else and I used my 40% off coupon to buy them.  Since I do not have a block yet to hammer on (They are the cheapest at Hobby Lobby, especially with a 40% Off coupon but have not been with out other items I wanted to use my coupon on yet or on Amazon), I use a metal weight I have at the house.  Hey, whatever works, right?!

We want to make the guests have our initials (A & M or M & A) and date (Month – Year) on them for guests to keep with their napkins we are personalizing also.

Materials:

*Forks (I grabbed a set of 4 for $0.88 at Walmart, I know the Dollar Store has some too)
*Hammer
*Some type of metal Block
*1/4″ / 6mm Punch Set numbers and letters (36 piece)

Steps:

1. Set out your desired letters and numbers.  I used the I for the dash for the date.

2. Place a fork on your block and the first letter. Take one swift hit. I would practice a few times on a fork. I also found it is best to make sure you have the letter or number as flat as possible and hitting twice in a row doesn’t work as the metal letter moves slightly.  If you have to redo, very carefully re-align the letter and then hit just once.

3. Continue as you desire.  Make sure your row lines up the best you can. I went through 2 forks before I got a good one so expect some throw-aways.

4. Enjoy them!
